Remove appointee now or wait until PIP forms arrive?

Quick question - my current DLA has my mother acting as an appointee for myself. I’d like to change this as I can fill in the PIP when I receive one. Do I need to let them know now that I want to remove my mother as an appointee and that I’ll be responsible for it or is it better to wait until PIP form arrives as there might be questions asking if I want an appointee or not?
You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

There are situations where the claimant can request the removal of an appointee, but it's certainly easier if the appointee makes the request. We used to see claims quite regularly where there had been an appointee for claims from years earlier, and they had never been removed. That creates problems if the appointee moves and hasn't provided a new address. I even had one case where the appointee had no recollection of being appointed!
In the OP's situation there is nothing to stop them completing the form but it will have to be checked and signed by the appointee if they are still in place.0 -
Hi thank you for your reply, that’s fine my mother is happy to remove herself as I can deal with finance now by myself. We are not sure if we should phone. Ow to DWP to remove herself as an appointee or wait until PIP forms come as we assume there will be a question to ask if she wants to continue to be my appointee or not?? We are not sure which would be the best course. You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

Thank you again, I think it’d be best for my mother to phone the DWP to remove herself as an appointee You will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.

As you can now manage your own finances then it's best to contact DWP and remove her before the forms arrive.0 -
I can confirm that I don't need to do anything until PIP2 forms arrive, I can say I write for myself and my mother would need to write a letter of relinquishment and include it along with the PIP2 forms to be posted. That's what DWP said on the phoneYou will only fail to learn if you do not learn from failing.
