First Credit card as a student

I'm 18, a student, and I've never had a credit card before. I'm looking for one solely to build up a credit score for the future. I don't intend to buy a lot on the card and will definitely be paying it off every month. As a student, I have very low income (apart from my loan). I have 2 questions:

1. Can I put my student living loan down as my income?
2. Should I get a 'student credit card' or a normal credit card?

Thankyou!

Comments

  • Try either your own bank or a sub prime provider. Check with whoever you apply to what they accept as income.

Ignore the pretend credit scores. You're looking to build good credit history, rather than a made up number.
  • Yes go with your own bank first, having a history with them will help. If you are paying off in full each month the APR won't matter so consider a sub prime card to build your credit history. xxxxxxxxxxx
