Getting copies of old gas bills
Hi
I need to show proof of where I have been living for the past 6 years.
For some reason I cannot use bank statements but utility bills are fine.
I have made an initial request but have been told that they can only provide me with 2 years' worth of bills and cannot provide me with bills later than this
Is this correct? Surely they companies need to keep bills for a much longer period than just two years?

You could ask for all the information held on you by the company using a Right Of Access request https://ico.org.uk/your-data-matters/your-right-of-access/
The company should have a link on their website to their privacy policy or in their terms and conditions which will show how to serve the request on the company.0
