Can I get a fine if the headlight bulb is not working

I've noticed the headlight bulb is not working on the passenger side so I'm wondering what will happen if the police stops me. I have bought a new bulb but I cannot replace it until the weekend as I've just found out you've got to remove the bumper and headlight just to replace the bulb.

Technically, yes the police can pull you but so long as you (a) drive sensibly & (b) have an address to get the bulb sorted at should they decide to pull you to ask, you should be OK.

Aim not to get pulled for any other reason as they'll add the bulb to the charge sheet but are unlikely to pull you just for that alone.

As I understand it, & I could be wrong.

How much will Halfords do it for? Works out cheaper than getting fined and keeps your hands clean. Money and effort saving all at once

I know its tight on the passenger side, but you don't need to go full on take everyone thing off. 20 mins of you're time to replace.

My mother got pulled over for having dead headlamp. She didn't get a fine but had to have the bulb fixed and then go to an MoT place to have the repair verified.

Have you got a link to the tutorials as most of the toyota forums I've read say you can do it without taking the bumper and headlight off.

how big are your hands? if they're small you can do it and struggle to do it by feeling the prongs that retain the bulb in the holder of the lamp, but it can be done.

Either that use the above youtube link. all you need to do is to slide the bumper forward on the passenger side to get access to the hidden light bolts underneath to undo a nd pull lamp out replace and refit reverse of what you did follow the tutorial and youll be fine.

Hopefully yes if you are ever driving in a situation to need it. Preferably quadrupled if your excuse gives away the fact you were aware of it.

I assume you are working 24/7 till the weekend and as such have no time to do it so will not be using the car anyway.
