Sark electricity crisis

You think that you pay a lot for power ? (10 - 20p per unit)

The Channel islanders living on Sark pay 66p per unit and the supplier has been ordered to reduce this to 52p - they have said "NO" and it looks as if the power (to 500 islanders) will be cut off in a few days......
The power is generated on the island with no external links !

a letter sent to customers last week, Sark Electricity said it could no longer afford to provide power to its customers after it was forced to lower its prices.

The cash-strapped utility company's managing director said he had "no option" but to turn off the power to 300 homes at the end of November, sparking a possible evacuation.

Fine - until you have an emergency that requires hospital treatment - they have a "tractor pulled" ambulance !
And you are not allowed to own any property on the island.
