Hive - With Older Boiler?

Our boiler is quite old but works okay.
We can't get it replaced next year as we have another larger project planned, so it's likely to be 2020 before getting it done... maybe.
If we were looking to get a Hive system put in (heating only!), could it then be transferred to a new boiler?
Old boiler is a standard type, the new one would likely be a combi.

No idea if it will work with your next boiler but we have a Hive linked to our boiler installed in the early 1970s and it works fine. Controls heating, hot water and the immersion heater.0

Why would you not have it controlling your hot water as well?
It can be connected to the new boiler no problem. You will need a dual channel hive with your current boiler, if you use it to control the hot water and heating. If you later have a combi put in then you would need to buy a new single channel receiver.0 -
Our hive controls a combi boiler, the heating from the main (non-combi) boiler & the water from the main boiler.
No reason why your hive couldn't control whatever heating you have.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Why would people buy a hive controller??Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0

Why would people buy a hive controller??
I have because it provides the flexibility I prefer. Coming home late? Set heating to come on later? Home unexpectedly early? Turn heating on 30 mins before getting home. Want lights to come on if you are out? Forgot to turn heating/hot water/lights off etc etc. Lots of uses but perhaps dependent on life style.0
