New build completion day - what to expect?

My partner and I are first time buyers buying a new build property, we’re due to move in on 7th December and we’re very excited! Everything appears to be sorted *touch wood* and we’ve started packing stuff up to make our lives easier on the day.
I was just wondering if any new build owners could shed any light on the completion day process for their home? For example:
What time did you get your keys?
Did you pick the keys up from site?
Did you move stuff in straight away or leave it until the next day?
I’m a little worried because it gets dark so early this time of year that if we get our keys late we won’t be able to move in until the next day as our new home is in a small village around 30 minutes away from our current homes now, so will be a bit of a pain to move in when it’s dark.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

We moved into ours on the same day but that is because we were doing a simultaneous sale and purchase. There was only our buyer and us in the chain and we completed on the new build at 11.30am. Collected keys from the site sales office.
We moved mid February so the days were short but we managed to move everything out of the old house and into the new build before it got dark.
Assuming you are currently living with parents/renting and don't have to be out straightaway then it's up to you if you move in on the same day.0 -
Seen a lot friends buying new builds so not personal experience.
3/4 picked up their keys at 3-4pm after work, they didn’t move as such that night they went to their houses and unloaded boxes they had in car, drilled up curtain poles and blinds and had a clean ( tho after seeing one of our close friends the housing company did clean it.
The others got their keys the following morning they couldn’t get off work early so on-site office closed, so they both had day off and collected keys at 8am 1 person went to the house other helped removals people at old house.0 -
We got the keys late afternoon - site staff met us at the house to let us in and do meter readings.
We were FTBs so had bed delivered the next day and then physically moved other stuff the day after that.
We did clean though, especially the kitchen. Although they had it cleaned, it wasn't to a standard that I wanted to put dishes etc straight into. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -
I got the phone call at noon to say I could go and pick my keys up, we picked our keys up from the sales office on the site. The sales rep and site manager did a second walk around with us, taking all the meter readings etc and then we were in.
We moved in on exactly the same day as you are last year, we also had snow to deal with, so I think with the excitement of moving in, you won't be too bothered about it being dark out, plus you'll only be going from the moving van to the house so it won't be a problem.0
