Balance Transfer to Debit Card

Hi all,

as we yesterday tried to transfer money from my credit card the Bank said that they could find my card number. Could it be because it is a commercial card? (Visa)

Then they offered us to send the amount of money to our debit card to pay off the commercial card.

Is that ok and is that the same as balancing money from a credit card?

your question is rather difficult to understand.
what were you actually trying to achieve.

e.g your first sentence says you tried to transfer money FROM your CC .. but to where?

the second seems to suggest you actually want to pay off the CC i.e. to transfer money TO the CC

    very confusing.

and thirdly what is a commercial card .. is that the same as a company card?
  • we wanted to transfer from my commercial card, that is my business / company credit card. They didn't accept it.

They offered to BT the amount of money onto my wifes Direct Debit card instead. That would be then our joint account.

My question is if that is the same, does balance transfer mean to everywhere like bank account? Does it matter where the balance is transfered to? Or is BT just balance transfer to anywhere?

sorry maybe I'm being a bit slow but a BT means to transfer a balance FROM somewhere TO somewhere.

so e.g. if I had tesco credit card with zero balance and I had a Halifax card with 1000 balance (i.e debt) I might want to BT from Halifax to tesco so I would end up with 1000 debt on the tesco card and a zero balance on the Halifax card.

so do you have a debt on the company CC that you want to shift (i.e pay off) from your current account

or is your company card empty and would want to move some money from it to your current a/c so leaving a debt on the CC

This always depends on the credit providing the transfer. As far as your current account is concerned it is just another receipt. But the credit card company may, at its own discretion, pay whoever it pleases and still call it a 'balance transfer'. The main thing is to check with the credit card making the balance transfer that it will be treated no differently to a standard balance transfer. They will either confirm this or not. You then have to decide if you are prepared to accept their offer (and make your own separate arrangement to pay off the other credit card via your current account)
