Motability ap grant

Has anyone dealt with the grants team recently ?
We are presently looking at our first motability car due to daughter's special needs equipment not fitting in present car with the kids.
I've looked and looked and can't find anything but a lwb van people carrier suitable small vans and large cars (galaxy, caddy, Sharan etc you lose the whole boot to her equipment)
We bought our present car before her legs began failing but to a very precise spec based around her issues. privacy glass, leather for easy cleaning, electric sliding doors.
There are only 2 vehicles on the entire scheme meet these requirements and they have advance payments of 6295 and 6795.
I don't have remotely near that kind of ap heck 500 quid would be a struggle presently so have had to apply to grants.
What kind of questions are you asked, proof required etc. How pushy were they in having you look at vehicles not fit for your purpose etc
I just want to be prepared as possible to have as much smooth sailing and the best chance possible as we can't go anywhere as a family presently.
I'm more than happy to elaborate on the reasons for the requirements if need be.

I have found Motability to be very helpful, although I have never applied for a grant. Our current car has become unsuitable because of an intermittant problem that is causing me a great deal of worry. Motability have let me terminate the contract early, and although they can charge £250 for this, they are not doing so.
I am about to order a replacement vehicle which has enough room for three adults in the back seat and has an enormous boot - the Citroen New Berlingo. I've had a test drive, and it fits our requirements without having a ridiculously high advance payment. Our main requirements are:
* high seating, as my son struggles with low seating
* enough space to comfortably seat three adults in the back seat - this has always been a challenge as most vehicles have a narrow middle seat, but the Berlingo manages it well.
* large boot for wheelchair, shopping, and other stuff. The Berlingo boot shelf can be placed halfway down, so you can fold the wheelchair and put it underneath (with other stuff), and you still have space on top of the shelf for everything else
* manual transmission (because I have no idea how automatics work!)
* preferably diesel as it is cheaper in the long run
* wide opening rear doors because my son struggles with narrow openings - the Berlingo has sliding doors, which is even better.
This is the one that we have chosen: https://www.motability.co.uk/cars-scooters-and-powerchairs/search/citroen-berlingo-flair-m-size-712704?searchPageFilters=%26amp%3bResultsView%3dgrid%26amp%3bPageNumber%3d1%26amp%3bResultsPerPage%3d9%26amp%3bSortBy%3dadvpayLow%26amp%3bweb_transmission%3dManual%26amp%3bweb_model%3dBerlingo%26amp%3bweb_rangemake%3dCitroen%26amp%3ballowance_type%3ddla%26amp%3b1_wr_totalallowance%3dTrue%26amp%3b1_wr_lessthanallowance%3dTrue%26amp%3bsubType%3d1%26&allowance_type=DLA&StartRow=1&EndRow=9
I'm sorry that I'm not much help, but try giving Motability a ring - they are helpful and friendly.0 -
I really liked that new Berlingo after finding one in XL 70 mile a way took a drive out there to see if equipment would fit and unfortunately it wouldn't without kind of jamming it in losing most the boot in the process. Which is unfortunately what I found with the VW caddy ford tourneo connect etc and the same issue I have with my Mazda 5 although with the 5 it also encroaches onto one of the rear seat passengers heads0
