I use Decleor Phytopeel - its an exfoliating face mask. Started using it after a beautician used it on my during a (very very rare) facial years ago.

It's not cheap but does last a long time. I find it very good on my dry / sensitive skin as it exfoliates without irritation.

It's the only 'premium' brand item I use (I use Cien facial moisturiser at £2.09 a tube as a usual brand level yardstick...which btw i find every bit as good as Clarins Hyrdaquench)

  • Buy a bag of organic adzuki beans, whizz them up in a coffee mill/blender and use the powdered mix as an exfoliator. (mix with water to make a paste)

I resorted to doing this after the shop-bought products we were using kept changing the ingredients, and it also works out much, much cheaper.

Anything without plastic in! Or just buy an exfoliating glove you can use on your face and a face wash you like. That's what I do.

As a guy i use St. Ives apricot scrub in the shower (every morning), and micellor water with a cotton wool pad after my shower and again before bed.

And good old Evening Primrose Oil as a night moisturiser
  • I love Liz Earle's Cleanse & Polish which is a gentle exfoliant and comes in some lovely varieties. However I've recently tried Aldi's Lacura Hot Cloth Cleanser which is a fabulous copy cat version of this product and excellent value.
  • I like St. Ives exfoliating scrubs as I think it really 'gets in there' bust sometimes when my skin is having a mare it can get sensitive so I do tend to steam my face either with hot water in a bowl or in the shower to open up the pores before cleansing with a gentle non-abrasive face wash.
  • Choosing a facewash depends on your skin type. My skin type is oily so I use accordingly. So, first look after your skin type and then choose a perfect face wash for the glowing skin.

It all depends on your skin types?

I have oily/combination with visible pores.

I love Shu Uemura's Ultime8∞ Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil in the evening, as it takes off all my makeup and leave skin very subtle and soft. I like to also incorporate facial massage whilst I'm using this. Unfortunately, UK does not stock this anymore, so I buy a huge one when I go back to Canada which last about 1 year. I have tried Elizabeth Arden Cermacide Beauty Cleansing Oil, it smells a bit olive oil like. Right now, I'm using Superfacialist Vitamin C+ Skin Renew Cleansing Oil.. it does the same thing but if your water isn't hot enough, it'll leave a bit of greasy feel.

In the morning, I use a normal cleanser. At the moment, i'm using Shiseido Senka Double Wash Cleansing Foam (I bought this when I was on holiday in Hong Kong). I also love the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser. I'll buy a tub of classic Noxema when I'm over in North America.

As for exfoliation, nothing beats St. Ives Exfoliating Scrubs. I've tried others but I've been using this scrub since i was 14!

Has anyone tried Cleansing Balm that comes in a tub?

I have the Elemis one. Instead of using it as a cleanser (I prefer an oil cleanser in the evening), I use it as a cleansing treatment in the bath, like a face pack with a spa smell. I put a good amount on when I condition my hair and let it all soak in.
