RWD and winter tyres VS 4WD and summer tyres on snow

Following on from my previous thread comparing 2WD on winter tyres vs 4WD on summer tyres, some people commented that a 4WD vehicle on summer tyres would still be better than a RWD on winter tyres. Note this is filmed in the UK on a street in a scenario typical to what many people on streets throughout the country would wake up to in the morning in winter, even in the south.

Eventually the 4WD does manage to get up the slope albeit sideways but every time the RWD BMW beats it and doing it driving straight too. Almost all of the time the 4WD is going forward it has little control over the direction it is going, sliding sideways as it goes up the slope compared to maintaining normal direction which the BMW manages to do.
