I discovered recently that my meter was unreadable , therefore cannot give a meter reading !
I conntacted Bulb my supplier and they were trying to organise an engineer to come out to fit a new one , but keep delaying the date !
Bulb want to increase my monthly payment from £50 to £180 next month which I cannot pay and now have no way of reading my meter.
I reaslise £50 was too low an amount when I swiched 6 months ago but they are basing this on their assumtion !
Any advise please ?
Many thanks

When was your last meter reading.
How much over the £50 have your bills been .0 -

The payment would have been originally set based on the information you provided.
Any attempt to artificially declare your annual usage lower than you know it to be (and hence what you initially pay monthy) may adversely affect who is the best supplier & tariff for you when you use that same data to consult a comparison site.
As you have discovered, there is a check in place.
Unfortunately for you, as your meter has declared a fault, then an estimate of your usage will need to be used, and that will be based on the level of usage the independent third part assume, not the lower figure you seem to acknowledge you tried to get away with.
What you won't know, as the meter is broken, is if the independent reviewer sets a figure higher than you actually used, but it will be based on past usage (unless you can pursuade the supplier to look at future usage to decide what you have already used); your admission here means that your figures cannot be trusted in any event.
If you cannot pay, I suggest you contact the supplier sooner rather than later to come to some agreement on how you will pay them.0 -
Thanks very much for very rude reply . Thats not what i meant at all !
That was the amount set when I transferred from British gas .
The last reading was taken a couple of months ago when the meter was still readable !
What I meant was that i knew it would increase during the winter period and I would have to pay more , but not by such an increase .
People come on this site for help not rudeness and accusations .0 -

You are asked for your anticipated annual consumption. That doesn't change based on when you do the comparison.
As you have clearly taken offence at my attempts to assist you, I shall place you on my ignore list, and would be grateful if you do likewise to avoid any further offence you may take from my postings on this site.0 -
Hi, why is the meter "unreadable ". ?.As a meter reader for 20 years I have a few tips for some unreadable meters. Not many "unreadable " meters used to beat me ! The Secure Liberty meters can be described as "unreadable " IMO if they are placed in tight corners and cupboards..Very user unfriendly meters.
I don t think Wavelets was being "rude " but just more likely being truthful with the way Bulb have been acting on here. I m with Bulb and they initially set my direct debit way too low for my yearly consumption as a tactic to suck me in to join them , and then they put up their rates by 11 % last month leading to quite a drastic increase in my d/d
I joined them late in the year so I never had chance to build up a healthy winter credit as I would have if I d been with them all summer, so they are now asking for the highest monthly payments I have ever had.
No exit fee s so I will be leaving them shortly0
