Hi I’ve just applied for the switch to HSBC. Do you get any immediate answer?
If the switch requested was December 7th? How soon after do they pay the £150?
Thanks

You normally get an immediate yes if it has been accepted but if you got the dreaded "we will let you know within 5 days" it is because it has failed the online application and is being passed to a human for consideration and they may decide in your favour but don't hold your breath.
Well that is what happens to me anyway, others may have had a different experience.0 -
In my experience the account opening process is not very informative or particuarly quick.
I guess from start to finish it took about three weeks for me.
They paid the £150 roughly the following month.0 -
I've said it before, and I'll say it again ; if you can easily get into a branch the chances are the process will be very much quicker. When I opened mine a couple of years ago (for all the switching goodies) it was heaps quicker.Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

I applied this week and got that 'we need to check a few details' message. Because I didn't get an email, or a reference number, or anything to suggest my application was in progress, I phoned today to check. No, we have nothing on your application so you'll need to do it again, I was told. So I did, and got to exactly the same point.
So now I have between 0 and 2 potentially failed or successful applications in progress, both of which might attempt to switch my bank account if successful, but I don't know how to find out the status.
After this experience I'm hoping I will fail or that I can cancel, because it is not encouraging.0 -
OH and I both switched a dormant account to get the £150. Bonus was paid within 48 hours. Happy days.

When I opened my account during the last switch incentive I didn't get email confirmation when I finished the application - first I knew it was accepted when I got a debit card in the mail a few days later. The account opening process was rather slow and clunky and I didn't get the switch bonus automatically. I had to message them after it wasn't paid out in the stated time, but on the upside they gave me the entire £200 at once... so no need to stick around for 12 months
