Unrealistic Deposit from British Gas

The 'credit score' offered by the CRA's is a pretty meaningless number generated to sell you their various 'improvement' services. Potential lenders don't even see that score, and will come up with their own score based on their own criteria having seen the raw data on your file.
British Gas have historically had a very particular set of criteria, meaning people with otherwise 'good' history, (the kind of people who have no trouble getting a large mortgage for example) get turned down. In the past this just meant a rejection, seems that now they are accepting people with this deposit, which is progress of a kind i suppose.
My theory is that what BG are looking for is evidence of a well managed energy account on the file. It doesn't matter what other lending there is, if there's no prior energy account there then you're considered a risk. A lot of people find themselves in that situation because not all suppliers report to the CRA's to build that history.3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day).
