Hi, i am asking this one for a friend who is using a night vision conversion for his rifle called Nitesite Wolf. The standard battery only lasts around 1.5 hours when used on full power. He would like an additional more powerful battery to keep in his jacket pocket that could be used for longer periods of time.
To purchase a more powerful Nitesite branded battery is very expensive.
Would it be possible to purchase a cheaper rechargeable battery that would work? Physical size of the battery does not matter as it would be kept in his jacket pocket and connected by cable instead of fastened to the rifle stock.
Is it possible to buy one with the correct adaptor to fit?
I cant post a link to the details as a new user but details of the standard battery and fittings are shown on the Nitesite webpage and the Wolf manual gives full details
Thank you for any help

Just get one with the same type and voltage and double the amp/hour rating to las ttwice as long

Perhape and perhaps not. You may get better cells, bur a battery with bespoke mountings maybe not. but tou may be able to use a powepack?

There is a very slim chance any one here has seen this battery, and I expect your guess to be better than ours

you could have pasted the link and left out http://, and think we would have guessed it
  • Shooting is an expensive activity. I guess ' you ' have spent a lot on 'your' rifle and accessories and continually on ammunition yet 'you' baulk at paying £33 on the Amazon site?

Lots of alternative batteries available on ebay along with tales of the expensive night vision kit going pop. They are not just a battery in a box. Best option is to bite the bullet (see what I did there) and splash out on the official big boy battery and an extension cable if he wants to keep that and the original in his pocket but maybe running a 5AH Li-ion battery in your pocket may not be the best of ideas !

    It's advice, not advise.

    That's my best advice.

But the night sight itself costs nearly £400:

Anybody prepared to pay that sort of money shouldn't be trying to scrimp on a Li-Ion battery that, if you get it wrong, could burst into flames in their pocket.
  • 6Ah battery?
With the original too of 1.5Ah that will allow about 8hours lying in the cold and damp.:)

The one I found was a 1.5Ah batt (original) and that doubles the time to 3hours continuous.....but if that is not enough.......

As I wrote expensive hobby, if hobby it is!

It shouldn't be too hard to do. But it's doubtful you'll be able to buy one off a shelf.

From the links above, it's just a Pos and Neg connection so they are just a simple battery in a box, with no electronics. You'll need to find out the voltage which must match the existing battery.

The Ah rating relates to how long it will last.
