What speed limit would be enforced on this road?

I cannot post a link but the below is enough detail. If needed i can give road name.

30MPH road, no white/red ring signs with 20mph just a white and black sign saying 'max speed 20 school zone'. There are road humps on this section of road. There is a speed camera SIGN but not sure about speed cameras being there. What would be enforced on this road on a weekend or out of school hours? . Also by the looks of it there are no 30mph signs when exiting this zone so is this just an advisory?

  • Speed limit signs MUST have the speed surrounded by a red circle, if the sign is just black and white it cannot be a valid limit sign. So I would say it is advisory.

If you name the road we'll be able to look on Google street view.

    The speed limit is 30.

The ADVISORY speed limit of 20MPH is only in force during normal educational establishment operating times.
Traffic Signs Policy Paper: Signing the Way, DfT October 2011 states that
English Local authorities will now be able to introduce an advisory part
time 20mph speed limit sign for use in the proximity of schools.
  • What about street lighting, and do they have repeaters?

    What difference does that make?

    What makes you say that?

    Advisory.

30, depending on your assumptions behind "It's a 30 zone".

The Highway Code is for life, not just for [STRIKE]Christmas[/STRIKE] driving tests.

  • Adrian, the road clearly displayed a 30mph limit when joining it

Ooookay... But that alone doesn't mean that's enforceable...
  • Basically there is no speed limit sign in white with red circle indicating a 'valid' enforcable speed change in this school zone & when leaving this school zone there is no '30mph' sign which is why i'm wondering if the 'Max 20mph' is an advisory not the limit
