    Hi there - advice needed!

I have just received a Notice to registered keeper parking ticket from a Pay and Display Car park through the door from Euro Car Parks for £100 or £60 if i pay immediately. Question is; do i pay the fine or appeal?
Case info. I have no reason not to of paid the required charge but i did not see that there is an extra 20p charge on Thursdays! I wanted to park for 2hrs and every day of the week apart from Thursday it is £2.20 - i have the actual ticket that says i paid £2.20 and i now have a £100 (£60) ticket for being 20p under the required amount. I have driven back to the car park to read the sign more carefully and realise i underpaid by 20p.
Is this worth pursuing or should i just pay the unreasonable fine?

So did the signs clearly state this extra 20p ?

What happened then to your £2.20 paid ? ASK THEM

You can appeal to them but do not pay. A court is going to blast them out of the water for 20p

So, you underpaid by 20p, Why on earth would you pay them £££ for what a judge would consider to be a genuine mistake. I expect that the signage was not clear either.

BTW, this is not a fine, it is an invoice for damages for an alleged breach of contract, it is a scam.

Pay tyhem nothing unless they take you to court and win, (a flying pig, a judge would come down on them like a ton of bricks), but do complain to your MP. Read this one I wrote earlier

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some may have connections to organised crime.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.

Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will should become Law next year.

All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers.

Edit your post to remove information about who parked. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.

Do this before you do anything else. Parking scammers read this forum.

Once you have done that, please read the sticky thread for NEWBIES then send the blue appeal template you will find there.
