It was your fault you didn't get to the departure lounge 45 mins before the flight. Take some responsibility and in future leave enough time. Put it down to an expensive lesson.

The OP says they were delayed by circumstances outside of their control. Given you don't know what these circumstances were, you're not in a position to say if it was or wasn't the OP's fault.

Doesn't matter whether it was or wasn't the OP's fault. It wasn't the airline's fault, that's what matters,
