Threatened to go to court after a whole year of my parking charge

Hi Eveyone hope you are all well
I was issued with a parking ticket almost a year ago in January by Curzon Street car park which I believe is run by a private company UKPC. I was running late for university and so I had quickly bought a parking ticket and displayed it quickly on my dashboard, I believe when I slammed the door as I was getting really late I believe the ticket turned upside down and therefore I was charged with a ticket for incorrect display. The board states clearly the maximum charge you can get is £90 however I was charged with £150 parking ticket and when I did appeal it was declined even though I showed them a picture proof of my ticket the date and time
It was bought which was hours before my penalty charge was issued. Obviously being really annoyed I said to them I’m not paying a penalty charge for something I actually paid for and so they continued to sent threats to my house (letters) saying pay up or you’ll go to court. Thought it was all done and dusted until I received to more calls today of the number 0121 272 7071 which I believe is Debt recovery plus as that is what showed up on google when I searched the number, the first time they kept asking for my address I said before I give my address I would like to know what parking charge this is for and why I’m receiving it, he cut off and then rang a hour later saying if you don’t pay up you’re going court. Does this mean I’m really going to go court and if I do and I lose do I need to pay for just the parking charge or all the court fees too?

You are getting yourself all mixed up.
For a start this is not a penalty it's a speculative invoice.
You are correct that the (scam) charge they allege you owe is £90, the other £60 is another scam charge that the Muppets at Debt Recovery Plus are trying to get out of you for their sport of sending frightening letters, and it seems calling you up with harassing phone calls.
You should ignore DRP they cannot take you to court they are liars, and nasty ones at that, they are on a no win no fee contract.
Put their number on block and don't speak to them again.
UKPC have started taking some to court, whether yours is a case they want to try only they know.
But it's the small claims court, a bit like a meeting across a table no wigs and gowns lol.
But you are really in ignore mode now to see what happens, the appeal stages have gone.
Now have a read of the "newbies thread" at the top of this forum, it explains what this sorry scam is all about.0 -
Thank you for that information, really appreciate it
Also where is the newbies forum as
I can’t find it0 -

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.
Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business in the not too distant future.

UKPC court cases tend to be multiple ticket ones - from around 5 tickets plus. But if you get a Letter Before Claim or real court papers, don't ignore those - come back on this thread. UKPC's lapdog solicitors are SCS - just for information. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
