Alternative Comparison Websites

OK, not sure if this is the best section to post my question. Anyway, here goes! I'll admit I've been very slow in taking up the whole website comparison scene, as I assumed I could always get a better deal directly.

Anyway, I'm starting to come around to the idea, and love not entering my details over and over, but now have a few questions for those of you with a lot more experience at it than me.

1) Is there a site for comparing comparison sites? Or would that just be too confusing? There seems to be a fair bit of choice now, just not sure if I'm using the best ones.

2) Have I missed any? I'm currently using confused.com for my car insurance, comparethemarket.com for my life insurance and finances, then uswitch.com for my utilities, although might just change to using comparethemarket.com for utilities too. Not remortgaging for a couple of years so haven't even looked into comparing mortgages yet!

3) What about sites for comparing my personal financial situation, like savings, debt, mortgage, pension etc? I'm currently using financearoo.com for this but would be interested if there are any other good ones?

All advice greatly appreciated, and if my car insurance is anything to go by all these savings could pay for Christmas :undecided

    2) Follow the MSE guide to using comparison sites - applies in the main the car insurance but the basic idea can be used for home insurance too.

Maybe you should be going through Direct Line because they aren't on comparison sites lol.

I think most people on MSE will be interested in Cashback than in comparing the comparers. For example through toipcashback you can get 140 quid if you switch to EDF's Easy Online tariff for dual fuel whereas MSE CEC only offers 25 quid. The 140 quid Cashback offer ends in two days

I haven't heard of any comparison sites that compare comparison sites but I suppose they probably exist somewhere. But I've found that the offers and deals across different comparison sites are similar if not the same. Just choose a comparison site you like but in addition compare Cashback.

GoCompare and some others compare not just car insurance. They compare all kinds of insurance, mortgages, energy etc. THat way you just register with one site and do it all
You're not your * could have not of * Debt not dept *
  • Ahhh yes I hadn't even thought of cashback options, I'll have to look into that!
