I got my on-line bill from OVO today with the following inducement:Up to £30 credit when you book a smart meter installation today
This November, we're offering £15 free credit per smart meter installed - so if you book your gas and electricity meters for a smart meter upgrade, we'll give you £30 credit*.
Terms and conditions
*We will give you £15 credit for each smart meter installed (gas and/or elect). This offer is only availabe to selected OVO customers. To be eligible you must book your smart meter exchange by 2nd December 2018.
The credit will be applied to your OVO Energy account up to 30 days after completion of a successful installation. We'll still credit your energy account if the engineer finds a technical reason that means we can't carry out a smart meter installation
We won't credit your account if:
you cancel your smart meter installation appointment; we aren't able to install a smart meter due to faults of yours; someone over the age of 18 is not present at your property thoughout the exchange; or we or our partners cancel your original appointment, unless you re-book within 24 hours and we subsequently install your smart meter(s).
I wonder if other firms will do the same0 -
It is a concern of GCHQ that security flaws in the firmware within smart meters can be exploited to provide a gateway to a cyber attack on the home router, See Telegraph article.
Someone is paying for this premature £11billion fiasco and it is not the Government or the energy peddlers. It will be the consumer.

My son has a smart meter (well, it's dumb now he changed suppliers) but after the first few days of usage when it was working he found the information quite interesting.
After a few days the little display unit was put inside the cupboard and has not seen the light of day since!
As he says "am I really going to put off making a cuppa?" because I know how much energy I use. The answer is obviously no.
Seems to me this is really designed to allow the introduction of variable tarif rates and sugar coated with "you will save some money" (but not very much!).:(0 -

If there are, then along with smart meter fines, it just increases the rollout cost and diminishes the perceived benefits. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I've yet to see any examples of Eco7 smart meters being installed.
At least SC were helpful in estimating Eco7 meters being rolled out from 2019 approx.
I've since changed to SSE no idea if they'll ever get to offer Eco7 smart meters.
As I enjoy technology I like the idea of viewing usage via digi smart meter.
With Eco7 I'll probably be one of the latter to be installed.
Unless of course any Mser'rs have Eco 7 smart meter

We’re sorry, but we’re unable to fit your smart meter(s) at the moment.
Our Smart Team are working hard to make sure all homes can have a smart meter installed by 2020.
We’ll keep hold of your details and contact you as soon as you can book your installation.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0 -

Secure Liberty meters are used by the smaller suppliers and Eon0 -
As a meter reader I have read Eco 7 smart meters. They were always only Secure Liberty smart meters. We have to press button 6 to get the reading for the day/night kwhs use.Very odd why only these meters appear capable of being set up to record Eco 7.

Thanks appreciated.
That lets me know Eco7 meters are at least being made available.
Is it possible to capture a screen shot of the Liberty smart meter.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb0
