Can't change a phone

Hi all.
Last week i upgraded my phone contract and handset through Carphone Warehouse.
Having had the phone a week it is not matching up to my 2 year old phone and i just don't want to be stuck with it for 2 years.
Carphone are saying EE won't let me change the phone, so on the face of it im stuck paying 50 quid a month for 2 years for a phone i don't get on with.
Is this normal?

Sorry, but if you read the many threads on here about phone contracts you would have realised what an expensive nonsense "upgrading" a phone contract is. While it's too late to help you, the sensible solution is to go SIM only and save a lot of money and hassle.0

You can't really change your phone mid contract (you can with 02) but you could always buy a new phone and put the SIM in that, although then you would be still paying for your contracted phone.
Because the phone isn't actually yours yet they probably won't let you change. I would check the small print to see0 -

this appears to be the case, according to their customer services EE doesn't allow you to change within the first 14 days of a purchase unlike other providers so i'm kinda stuck with it.
I only got it last saturday so not even had it a week yet, but the coverage isn't as good as my last phone which is part of my annoyance0 -
