Misdiagnosis from an Apple-certified repairer leading to the unnecessary purchase of a new macbook

    All that report says is that they couldn't find a fault. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence.

    Nor does that report state that the battery was unseated (which I would expect to be classed as a hardware issue - a user created one thats easily rectified but a hardware issue none the less).

    What I was trying to tell you earlier is that you're going to have to prove that they failed to carry out the service with reasonable care and skill. It is possible to exercise reasonable care & skill and still get the wrong answer, or have a situation where 2 professionals are of differing views (and neither are negligent just because there is someone of a differing view). The standard is that (within that industry), no reasonable person of the same skill level would have taken the same course of action.

    I'm not telling you not to complain, just to get your ducks lined up (and make sure any claim you are making is correctly based in law) before you start shooting off.

    'Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence' - I think it's a nebulous and rather weak argument to say 'yeah there could be something wrong here...we just can't find it... but on that grounds, there might be something going wrong so claim denied.'Furthermore, Apple have been directly told that the repairer found a logic board issue (..as customer had been advised at a AASP that a possible MLB (main logic board) may be required) and they have concluded that this is not the case! So it is a misdiagnosis as the problem that has been flagged by one repairer and its absence has been confirmed by another. As a consumer, how else could I prove that this service has not been performed adequately?

    You drafted one with totally unrealistic expectations of compensation which will not be met.

    If you choose to complain more reasonably, you may get some money back.

    That's the whole point of it being a draft, it's not perfect nor finalised. Thank you for your input but advice on how to do so is what I am looking for on this thread.

    'Possible' and 'may' be needed, not that it IS needed.

    'Possible' and 'may' be needed, not that it IS needed.

    The only reason Apple has said 'possible' and 'may' is because it was my brother that told them this - they had not seen the report from Jigsaw. Jigsaw's report states;
    'Ran through Apples troubleshooting and confirmed a Logic Board fault at minimum configuration. Replacement Logic Board required.'

    I don't mean to come across as sounding pompous. When people are laughing at your demands and even indirectly question your character rather than offering something constructive on alternative ways to seek compensation, it's hard not to try to defend yourself. I'm sorry you feel that way about me.

    How would this work in reality? Surely if I had got the logic board replaced, I would never know that the service was unnecessary as the problem would be fixed?
    I suppose by similar methods to suspicious garage customers who instruct the repair to proceed with the proviso that they are provided with the "faulty" part after it's been replaced. You could then have (presumably) got a second opinion about the condition of the logic board (if the repairers didn't admit that it wasn't actually problematic).

    Many people have told you your demands are futile. You're choosing to challenge them on it and insist you're correct.

    That's probably why you're sounding pompous to some of those who are reading.
