Making a claim on car insurance or not ?? Accident - my fault.

Hi there,
My lovely WIFE hit someone's car, so obviously she's fault.
The other guy has already made a claim.
Our car does not look bad - we need to change glass grill in Honda Civic and a car needs some aligning up. Estimate cost is around 350 from the garage. If I make a claim my excess is 200, which is slightly cheaper.
If I don't make a claim on my car then insurance next year will be somehow cheaper if the other guy made a claim and I did not ??
Of course, I will lose my NCB and insurance go up, but I am thinking if I do not make a claim maybe insurance company will treat me better and give me a reasonable price.. Or it does not matter at all ??
Cheers,

The incident will count as one claim irrespective of whether or not you claim for your own damage
So, assuming your insurer is dealing with the third party then you may as well claim for your repairs0 -
I can sense the same tone in your post as my hubby would have had when I hit a stationary bus a few years ago.

As above, you might as well claim anyway at this point.
We claimed for the damage to our car, as the bus company were going to claim. Though we were glad we did as I'd managed to do £1500 of damage to our car. But turned out to be no damage to the bus!
By way of reassurance, I've been amazed that my premium hardly went up at all. It was my first accident in almost 20 years of driving, but I didn't have protected no-claims discount.
Check your policy paperwork - with a lot of insurers, if you have several years of no-claims discount, you don't drop all the way back to zero years - you just lose a year or two of it. This is if you stay with the same insurer at renewal. Even when I've shopped around though, the claim doesn't affect my premium very much.0
