Mastercard Charge

in Credit cards
Hi,
I have just purchased 2nd hand motor with a Mastercard and the trader added 3% charge for using that card.
I normally use a debit card so I am a little unsure if this is allowed.
From looking around I think this was banned but I'm not 100% sure, if it is how can I get that back.
Cheers
Paul

Credit card surcharges were indeed outlawed in the UK back in January, with some exceptions, such as company cards and pre-2018 contracts.
As per https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/2018/01/cards-fees-to-be-banned-from-saturday/, you'll have to go back to the trader and highlight that they were in breach of the regs, and if they refuse to refund the 3% then you can take them to Trading Standards. Beyond that it would ultimately be Small Claims, but there's no redress available via the card company....0 -
Yes its in breach of the rules although there isnt really anyone to enforce them.
Trading Standards seem to be useless when it comes down to enforcing0 -
Did you use a business credit card or a personal one?0
