Alarm/detector for natural gas?

Can anyone suggest a decent quality but not too expensive alarm/detector for natural (cooker) gas?
Had a bit of a scare the other day when I left the smallest stove ring pumping out gas for almost an hour before I noticed it, thought we should probably get some kind of detector, just in case, but I don't really want to use a mains one that has to be plugged in/switched on 24/7
cheers

Never had one myself but I assume it’s a very easy task to test any of these items!

Amazon: 5 x 5* reviews;...modestly priced but mains powered not battery.

Amazon; battery powered,...mixed reviews.

Toolstation: Battery powered.

There's not a lot of point having an alarm that isn't switched on 24/7.
The whole idea of having an alarm is to warn you when something is wrong.
If you have managed to forget to turn off the gas then it's more than likely that you'll manage to forget to turn on the gas alarm. so there's not much point in having one.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -

Yeah, I know what you mean, but I was wondering if there was an alarm available, battery operated, that sounded off when the battery was getting low - like with smoke alarms.... so it would be switched on all the time and we'd be alerted when the battery was going0 -

I think the bottom two are the same model?
I know there are loads on Amazon, I just hoped someone on here could recommend one from personal experience.0 -
Yes, they are the same but different supplier and prices. Toolstation offers free delivery on orders over £10 plus there are countless Toolstation outlets up and down the country if you wanted to collect one personally.nightofjoy wrote: »I think the bottom two are the same model?

As for ‘recommendations’ the reviews from both sites are a reasonable guide,IMHO;...plus you can always return it if it’s crap.
P.S. I’ve bought a number of ‘Fire Angel’ alarm products in the past and always found them to be reliable and durable;...never had a natural gas alarm though.0
