Returning an item to Very .co .uk? (Hygiene item - unclear on terms?)

Hi there!

We recently (the past few days) purchased some GHD's as a gift. (very.co.uk/ghd-original-styler/1600249312.prd)

The person we was gifting them too actually received another pair from another family member today and they preferred the other style - so we said we'd return ours and select a different gift.

However upon looking we are a little bit confused by the returns information! It says the following:

"28 day Approval Guarantee. Non returnable under our Approval Guarantee, for reasons of health & hygiene. Your statutory rights are not affected. See returns section in our Help pages for more information."

Upon checking the returns section, we are still non-the-wiser. I can't quite work out if it's simply a case of once they're opened then they're yours and you cannot return them (for obviously hygiene reasons) or if they're happy to accept them back providing they are fully sealed and not opened? (They are fully sealed and still in their warehouse box by the way).

Has anyone returned anything similar or able to make sense of their terms?

Appreciate any information - thank you!

They can stipulate whatever they want in their "Approval Guarantee."

You still have statutory rights and as they're unopened there's this part of the T&Cs
Your Right To Cancel Your Order under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations.
You also have the right to cancel your order under these regulations. However, this cancellation right does not apply to personalised products, perishable goods, audio & video recordings and computer software which has been opened and goods that are unsuitable for return for health or hygiene reasons if they are unsealed after delivery.

Did they come sealed? (i.e. with a label/tag that needs to be broken ). If yes, has that seal been broken?

Did you purchase them online or in store? If online and they are still sealed then they can't use hygiene as a reason to refuse a return under CCRs. If in store they choose their own terms for any change of mind policy they offer.
