carers allowance and UC questions

hiya
basically im just wondering if theres much point to me getting carers allowance
me and my partner are on UC joint claim so get £495 currently but he may get an extra sum dependant on a health assessment next week has be has ankeylosing spondilitus.
i also claim carers allowance which i have recieved since september.
however UC take off £279 because im on carers allowance so im kind of wondering if we will be better off just on UC or if i should continue with CA.
what are peoples opinions
