No sound on pc

Hi

can anyone help please.

just reset my daughter's computer - it's an e-machine and we cleared off a lot of rubbish and reset everything... which is fine except now the sound isn't working. We've used the restore CD to put the driver back .. but it still isn't working. itunes doesn't work - the connecting to her stereo through the computer doesn't work ...YouTube, videos - no sound anywhere. Also tried downloading the driver from 'net... no luck. Any suggestions please?

Have a look in control panel click on sounds and audio devices to see that your audio is there. Make sure speakers are plugged in properly, try different speakers if possible. Make sure sound isn't muted either in sounds and audio and on speakers themselves. Are you getting any sound when windows starts up or closes down? Look for the simple things first and see where you get.

Thanks Shazmar, there is no sound when windows starts. We have checked the audio devises and the sound drive claims to be working. We have plugged in new speakers and headphones and had no luck. The cd player we are playing it though works fine on cd and radio.

Hi RedBern, thought you would have had more help by now. I'm assuming your on XP. Go to control panel, D click system, click hardware, click device manager, click box with + sign in next to sounds video and games controller. If any of the devices in the expanded menu have a yellow warning next to them right click and you should be able to download the correct driver from there. If this fails I suggest you Google your question as your problem seems to be fairly common after a reformat and one of the many answers you find will be the right one for you. Good Luck.

  • Your drivers might need updating, google the name of your soundcard and download new drivers
