Alice Holt Forest situated some 4 miles south of Farnham forms the most northerly gateway to the South Downs National Park.

The intention when PIP replaced DLA was that almost everybody would attend a face to face assessment due to alleged high level of dubious / fraudulent claims on DLA. I believe that idea was quietly scrapped when it became obvious that there weren't enough staff to cope.
The majority of people are still called for assessment, and if you are called and don't attend without valid reason, you won't get PIP.

Yes, expect a face to face assessment as most people have them. How long it takes depends on the backlog in your area. Some wait weeks, while others wait months. There's no timescales.

I heard if you get lost trying to find the place or have severe anxiety getting to the office and you have a letter stating you have anxiety from the doctor you could forward it on and they may do a paper based assessment. They also do home visits but require strong reasons.
  • Thanks for the replys everyone so when I have done the form and send it back do I get asked for a assessment appointment?

Who told you that? I wish you good luck getting a paper based assessment based on that, it's extremely rare, most have face to face assessments.

For home assessments a letter from a GP is required stating the reasons why and even then it can be refused. You maybe lucky enough to have a home assessment if your evidence is good enough to suggest you need this.

I think it depends on your area. I was given a home assessment without asking for one, and didn't require a home visit as my social worker could have taken me there and back. I'd have much preferred not to have a stranger in my home, in fact!

I had a home assessment for PIP 2 days ago conducted by Capita.

I never asked for a home one.

I'll find out in about 6 weeks.
