Gladstones solicitors

I had received parking charge letters previously and ignored them and had not repercussions as a result.

I have since read on this site that the situation had changed and perhaps I should have responded to previous letters.

The letter from Gladstones advises I have 14 days to pay £160 to avoid the consideration of any future court action. The letter identifies the vehicle involved, which did belong to me, but no details of when or where the incident occurred.

What should I do?

    1) you should read the NEWBIES FAQ sticky thread, especially post #2 , then decide if this is a real LBC or just a debt collector letter

    2) read a dozen other similar threads and read the advice they were given, because this has happened to thousands of people before you, so nothing new, all been seen before, so read and learn

if its a begging letter - IGNORE (especially if its from DRP and not GLADRAGS)

if its an LBC , respond with a rebuttal

the 14 days response means its probably from DRP, not from GLADRAGS at all !!

and if that is your real name, message the admins and get it changed asap

If they say that they will "consider" taking this to court it is unlikely to be a proper Letter Before Action.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.

Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by in the not too distant future.

YES, a real LBA ... MUST GIVE YOU 30 DAYS TO RESPOND, IT'S THE LAW. It must include full details of their claim

Anything giving you 14 days is a debt crawl

PLUS .... you do not owe £160, this letter has added a fake £60 which comes from the debt collector ....... it's a Gladstones attempt to extort money from you

I urge you to report this grubby law firm to their regulatory body, the SRA. They know this amount is not claimable, but they keep trying to con people. Not the sort of behaviour you expect from solicitors.

I am sure they do not condone this conduct.

Why not simply rad the NEWBIES thread post #2 and do the SAR needed, nice and early.

No asking what a SAR is, please just read the sticky thread... :)
