Woohoo!! I'm IV line free :j:j

Turns out they gave me too big a dose of one of the IVs, so I had too much in my blood when they did my levels last week. Would explain why I felt so rubbish. They took me off that drug for the last few days and I feel a lot better now. Lung function has bounced back up to 27% too :D - also had a 6 minute walk test on 3 litres of oxygen, which went fine (I actually walked further in the 6 minutes than my last test - my physio commented on how fast I walk!!), so they are happy for me to walk around on 3 litres and only put it back up to 4 if I feel I need it (going up a slope, exercising etc).

So, happily moving onto a more normal August, I have some things I would like to achieve:
    1. Cut back on fizzy drinks - I am terrible for this. I can drink 4-5 cans a day sometimes and nothing else. Not doing any good for my poor dehydrated organs!! I've already started this and am on day 4. I'm only having one can a day to start off with (didn't want to go full cold turkey as I know I wouldn't succeed). I basically decide at the start of the day when I'm going to have my fizzy drink and then stick to squash, juice, flavoured water etc for the rest of the day. In a couple of weeks, I'm going to cut it down to every other day etc. I don't feel the need to cut them out completely, but I need to drink more water definitely. It will be interesting to see if that helps my health and if the hospital notice a difference at my next clinic appointment.
    2. Start up with a housework schedule - Now that we've got rid of our cleaner, the place isn't looking great, especially as I've been out of action for the past 2 weeks. OH is full of great intentions to help, but he's out of the house for 12-14 hours a day, so it's not really fair on him. I want to try and do an hour each weekday and I'm going to split that up into 20 minute segments so I'm not overdoing it. OH is away next week, so I'm going to start that from Monday and see if he notices the difference when he gets back on the Friday (he better!!).
    3. Go to the gym twice a week - Going to struggle with this one, but I really need to do it. Going to start this from next week too, which means going on my own seeing as OH is away. I'll have to decide the days I'm going and stick to it. Force myself to go.
    4. Earn £10 a day - I'll go over and join the thread. I'm only going to get around £100 a month from work, so would like to bolster that. We have been managing well recently, paying bills on time etc, which is a really lovely feeling, and I don't want to lose that. Plus any Amazon vouchers will help towards the C word (won't mention it just yet ;))
    5. Bloody well do Swagbucks target everyday!!! - I've never managed this. I need to do it just to prove to myself that I can more than anything!!
I think that's it for now.

Glad you are off the IVs :T Good luck with your goals. I used to drink several cans of fizzy drink a day, I've now got it down to one, which I have at lunchtime. Good luck, you can do it!

    Thanks Lou and Jwil :D

So I was supposed to be working tomorrow 10-1, but someone has gone sick, so I'm doing this week's shift tonight 5-8 instead. I much prefer working evening shifts anyway.

Meeting my friend for lunch at Pizza Express (2 for £10 on O2 :)) and I've already had my fizzy drink of the day, so I will order wisely.

Not much else going on today. Will crack on with my goals from tomorrow :j

  • Em, I gave up fizzy drinks completely a few years ago, I know you don't want to give them up (I did it to avoid sweetners) but I did it by each time I wanted a drink I had a glass of water first and then drank the fizzy stuff, gradually over months (!) I had cut down the fizzy stuff to almost nothing.

Good that you are IV free :)

and I am nicking your August goals ideas especially the swagbucks total..... XXXX

    Hey Buffy :D

I don't really want to give them up completely, but I don't want to be drinking them every day either. I think it might get to the point when I only have them if I go out and don't bother with them at home so much. I'm doing well so far though and will try and cut it down to every other day soon.

Good luck with Swagbucks, I'll pop over to your diary to catch up when I get the chance later

Very quick post as OH has a half day and I've got to leave to pick him up soon. It's my nephew's birthday and we're going for a meal this afternoon, hence the half day. Got some other stuff to sort out too whilst he's off work (doctor's stuff for him etc).

I've met my Swagbucks target for day 1, so that's all good. I've ordered a £5 Amazon voucher from there and one from my Post Office surveys I do, so £10 is coming to me there.

I've also done £6.75 worth of Prolific surveys this morning.

Will try and get back on later.

Note to self: Creating a list for the day will stop me sitting around and doing nothing!! (as was the case on Friday :o).

So, OH has gone on his holiday and he'll be back at some point on Friday. I've filled the car with petrol and I've got a food shop being delivered between 8 and 9 this evening, so there is absolutely no reason for me to spend money in the next week!!

I claimed £5.25 from Prolific and got one of my £5 Amazon vouchers, so am off the mark with my £10 a day challenge. I've also met the second Swagbucks target for the past 3 days, so all good there.

I am still on the wagon with my fizzy drinks challenge. In fact, I haven't touched a fizzy drink today and don't think I will.

Tomorrow I'm going to my mum's for lunch and the afternoon and then to my sister's after that to help her build some more Lego (can't remember if I've mentioned it, but my niece has outgrown her Lego sets and has LOADS of them, but they are all in bits, so we are re-building them set by set and selling them for her).

I'll get started properly next week on tidying up/cleaning the house etc. On Monday I'll definitely get a list going though or I'll just waste my time again :naughty:
