UC first payment

Hi,
I've applied for a single person UC and according to my journal if I'm entitled I'll get paid in 4 days (which is Saturday). Do they send payment to your acc on weekends?
My question is, how will I know if I'm entitled or not? I assumed I am based on my earning and having a child. And surely if you're not entitled they don't make you wait for 5 weeks to find out? Will DWP send me a letter or put something online the last minute? The waiting is driving me crazy! I don't even know how much I'm getting.
Maybe anybody got their first payment recently can advise me what to expect?
Many thanks.

You can use your journal to contact a case manager and they will advise.....hopefully.0

If you are due payment on a weekend you will be paid on the Friday before. If payment is in 4 days you should have a statement showing on your account by now which will tell you how much you are entitled to this month, if you can't see a statement I would advise you to ring the service centre and find out why, they have then got a few days to sort out anything that may be blocking a payment0

I would advise against sending a journal message this late in the day - checking messages is very low on the priority list for case managers0

Thanks for the replies. Hopefully I'll see an update on my journal tomorrow otherwise I'll ring the helpline.0

Unless your salary is very high i expect you will qualify for UC.
Use the benefit calculator at http://policyinpractice.co.uk/. Its quite simple to use and is accurate as long as you enter the right details.
As someone said above, If the payment is due at the weekend then it should be brought forward to the friday. I hope it all goes well for you!0
