I've not had to tax a vehicle for 20 years - had a company car, so a bit rusty on this: I retired last December and taxed a new car on about 28 Dec. My tax runs out on 30th Nov. If I tax it a few days before that date will the DVLA steal a month off me, meaning next year I have to tax it at the end of October, or will it still renew on 30th Nov 2019?
Thanks.
Thanks.

according to that, you can apply from the 5th of the month of expiry (so 5th Nov in your case) online and the original date will be retained.0 -

It doesn't actually state that the original date will be retained - unless I missed something.0 -
It will be though. No worries. only time a month is potentially lost is when ownership is transferred.0

Okay, thanks for the clarification.0

Or if you're the registered keeper, wait for the postal reminder - mine usually arrive 10-15 days before it's due0

You could also go the direct debit route which takes one more responsibility off you.0

Doesn't it cost an extra 5% to pay by DD though?0

It says it is a 5% surchage for monthly direct debit here :
