Advice on PPi from 2002

I was with Lloyds bank around the year 2000-2002 and had a couple of loans and a gold credit card, To cut it short I became ill and could no longer work and struggled to pay bills.
It took many years to diagnose and was a worry with finances. I had some loans wrote off , but I am still paying one from Lloyds bank to a debt collector at £5.00 per month and it dont seem to go down much in Sept 2014 it was 3,774.16 and now its 3724.16 I was wondering if I could get any PPi owed to pay towards this debt. I don't want to chase money that I should not be due.
Does anyone know of PPi companies that work on a no fee no win basis. As I don't want to get help from a PPi company for them to say "we could not get your ppi but you owes us this amount for trying.
Thanks for all advice

Any PPI refund (assuming you even had it) would be offset on the debt but would help you

DO NOT USE A CLAIMS FIRM

A claims firm will bill you for their % of the refund even if you do not see a penny of it which will mean more debt for you paying them off.

Just write to the lender and ask if you had PPI and if so, establish the reasons why you feel it was miss-sold and then put a complaint in. Either follow the guide on the MSE website or if you must use a third party, use the MSE favoured tool Resolver as at least that's free and you keep all your refund

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Just go to the LLyds website and make your complaint online.

If you tell them that you don't know if you had PPI, how can you then go on to claim it was mis sold?
I can't remember if I had PPI or not on a Barclays account.

Ah that is the problem isn't it, why do you believe it was mis-sold? (if you actually had any)

You can phone and ask them if you did have a ppi policy, they will search through any data they may still hold and get back to you. But it's 16 years ago . .

A claims co. know less than you about your accounts, so you'd still have to tell them.

You write or ring and ask them if you had it first. Then construct a complaint - for example if you had great work benefits that would have paid you while sick for months or if you were not working when the product was taken out etc. No-one, especially not a claims firm, can do your complaint for you, you need to provide the details.
