Contact or Contactless Debate

I’ve not been asked for a pin for my debit card for months either but then I understand there are rules that lie behind requesting a step up to pin entry.
Folk who are scared to use contactless are the 2018 version of folk who were scared to use cash machines when they first appeared.0 -
In addition to what has already been said, there is a limit to the number of contactless transactions that can be made before the PIN is asked for, not sure exactly what this limit is, (I think it is less than 10) however, it would not allow thousands to be spent.
The rules on when the pin is requested are down to the bank/card issuer.
Customers sometimes don’t consider how the banks assess the risk. Say the customer makes 8 contactless transactions on a day then used an ATM and of course their pin. Many banks would reset the contactless counter to 0 at this point as they have an assurance the customer has possession of their card.0
