Ex utility supplier changed me back without permission.

Last year I had a supply with a company and I got a letter explaining my tariff was coming to an end and would be auto changed to new supplier and tariff, I didn't want this so I changed to who I wanted. A few weeks later I recieved a letter from the company that I was going to be transferred to and sent a final bill of around £160 for electricity in a month in summer months and the company by phone told me it was because I didn't give meter readings when I changed actually I did but I couldn't find the meter key at moment so gave them what I saw on the screen for the eletricity meter and the gas meter I gave the amount and a few codes they wanted from meter.

They refused to explain how a single person can run up a £160 bill in electric in a 1 bedroom flat in a month in the warmest part of the year.

I ignored this and had a letter in post today with new electricity key (no gas key though) and email saying welcome to (company name) my supply has been transferred.

Isn't this illegal?

    Please name the suppliers involved.

Is it possible you were with (say) Octopus, switched to Iresa which went bust and Octopus took over their customers ?
Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill
