Just opened up my natwest account for the switching bonus. transfered some cash into there and was going to rinse and repeat this but i have ran into a minor problem. I am been told i need a card reader to set up new payees online, i dont as yet have one of theirs but i do have numerous others, is there away to use one of the others until their's arrives? it does not look like their is as i am greeted with the nag screen each time

You can "enable" and use another bank's card reader just fine. They're all interchangeable.urs sinserly,

the Mobile app won't require you to use a reader, though there is a restriction of £250 per day and it doesn't save the payee details.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. A while back you had to order a reader and then wait a preset number of days before the facility to enable a card reader was activated online. Unless this has been changed you will need to wait one or two days...."In the future, everyone will be rich for 15 minutes"0 -
Nat West, Nationwide, Tesco are all interchangeable0

Do you know of any card readers that are not compatible? Obviously things like the First Direct code generator are not compatible, but they don't read the card.0 -
I believe chase Manhattans card reader doesn't work in the UK0

I think it's really bad customer experience design that you can transfer money in but not out. At no stage of the obboarding process should Natwest design a situation where customer's money is locked in this way.
I was hit with the same issue with Natwest this money, and I've referred it to the [financial-ombudsman.org.uk]. Not sure if I have a leg to stand on, but happy to find out.0
