For all those wondering about how they 'should' and 'will' feel about a place they buy!
First place - didn't 'love' it when I bought it. Had purchase fall through of a more characterful property in a slightly nicer area, though further from transport. Knew it had potential though - big bedrooms (enabled by downstairs bathroom), large downstairs. Loved it by the time I left - was easy to get into town, held great parties in open-plan reception/kitchen.
Second place - loved it on first look, even though it needed lots of work. Kept loving it, though over time it became a bit irksome that the kitchen was so far from the lounge (where the dining table was)
Third and current - also didn't love, but saw potential (also had a 'nicer' but less conveniently located purchase fall through) and was the only other place we'd seen that had the space we wanted. Done lots of building work, certainly on our way to loving, more work to come, but don't regret it one bit.
