in Credit cards
Hi,
Need help. Just had a call from Argos security team checking a transaction I apparently made online at around 7pm. We quickly identified it was fraudulent, so she suggested I call the card company (Barclaycard) ASAP. Just been on hold for ages to them, got through to India, and was told to do nothing until the 10th as the transaction was not showing on my account yet! I kept explaining about my concerns about fraud, and asked to speak with a manager but was refused!!!
What do I do? Ideally, I want to speak to someone in the UK who understands me and what I am asking.
Surely if someone is using the card fraudulently, I should be able to do something and get more information?
Also. Argos said that the person who used the card had my name, telephone number, address and post code. What else should I be looking at doing to protect myself?
Cheers all.

Re-contact the credit card company (should have a dedicated number) and this time tell them that the card has been stolen.
I take it you still have your card and the person has used the number / start and end date along with the security number and other data to obtain goods?
If this is the case then you have been compromised and the individual may have also passed on your details to others.
Get the card stopped now dial 01604230230 national number to avoid 0870 charges
4 hour customer service and lost and stolen cards 0870 154 0154
+44 1604 230230 if calling from abroad0 -
Thanks. I kept trying and finally got through to the UK who sorted it.
Just need to now check other stuff. They had my address, telephone number and full card details0 -
Great I'm pleased that you are for the time being sorted. I had a similar occurrence due to the TK Max customer details being compromised and immediately reported it stolen (had the same run around as you) and obtained a new card from GE Money, prompt action prevented in my case, a number of unauthorised transactions.0

No valid Uk credit card numbers were leaked as part of the TK maxx issue
If you had fraud it was a coincidence nothing else0 -

Well here you go direct quote in bold and highlighted red!!!!!!!!:If you've recently shopped at T.J. Maxx with a credit card, check your statements. Hackers took an unwelcome shopping excursion through the credit card information of the retail giant.
T.J. Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods and A.J. Wright stores in the U.S. and Puerto Rico, Winners and Home Sense stores in Canada, as well as T.K. Maxx in the U.K. and Ireland were affected, said parent company TJX Companies. The company said its Bob's Stores could also be involved. 0 -
