No original cavity wall certificate. Is this a risk?

Thanks for the replies.
The property I am purchasing is a 1930s semi-detached house.
I could not find a search by postcode option on the CIGA website.
Assuming the seller has not done any cavity wall insulation certification and nor have the previous owners, how expensive would it be for me to carry this out?
However, "If you do not have a copy of your certificate, or want to check whether your home is covered, then duplicates can be purchased by contacting us on 01525 853300."
If you ring to check and there is none, they could probably give you a ball-park figure for a 30s semi which has cavity walls. Your surveyor will able to check if you have cavities or not and advise re the location. Nowadays, if you go via CIGA, there's less risk of problems or meeting cowboy outfits who fit without regard to suitability.
You will probably have some loft insulation. The recommended depth is now 270mm, so you might want to do a top-up later.
Free loft insulation is getting hard to find , but we had ours done for free in 2016, having taken all the old stuff out when we refurbished the place. Made a huge difference, but then living with ceilings missing and random holes in the property for a few years gave a false impression anyway!0 -

The questions you need to find out:
Is cavity wall insulated fitted?
If yes, how long ago?
If it does not have cavity wall isulation fitted at all, then you might want to consider it. After the loft has been isulated, cavity wall insulation is the next cheapest and most effective form of insulation. Just make sure you get a reputable firm who offer a guarantee with their work.Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0
