  • Check if their charges are specified in the contract. If so, he won't get them refunded.

I am not disputing my son owed the money and should have kept his payments up to date. What I dispute are the additional costs of £330 as no reminders were received as they were sent to an address that doesn't exist.

What are the chances of getting the costs refunded? Are there any regulations or case law I can quote?

    Any help appreciated.

I think your son is spinning you a tall tale. If the letters were addressed to the wrong address then surely that would be the address that the people who came to repossess the car would go to because it would be what they had on record?

However they didn't, they came to the correct address. I'm betting that your son did get reminders but decided not to say anything about them to you.

The £330 is most likely the costs laid out in the finance agreement in the case of default and repossession of the vehicle.

Your son is an adult and needs to learn the lesson of consequences. My advice is to stay out of it, let your son learn a well needed lesson and make sure he repays you the £330 you paid out which I sure as hell wouldn't have done for my son in a similar situation - his mess, his problem.

Motonova confirmed the letters went to the wrong address. The paperwork the people who came to collect the car had the wrong address. They just walked up and down the road until they spotted the car.

So did your son give them this wrong address?
