Good morning everyone,
Thanks for your messages yesterday about opening hours. What got me was that the Tesco is still shouting in bright red words it's open 24 hours. Anyway, lesson learned.
Given the Sunday SM shutout I went last night and got my things. Came home and made a casserole and soup, although the soup looks very...plain and basic. It'll save me from going out and spending £4-£7 on lunch though.
I've a few small errands I'd like to do today just to make sure I'm all up to date with things but aside from that, not much else.
Scarlet - Glad it all went well. Let us know how the cake making goes!#
RR - Happy Birthday to your DM! Is there cake? Surely there's cake?0 -
Morning all from a cold and overcast Mehefinland
Hugs and spoons to those in need as always.
Well Scoobymare seems to be fixed:j at long last. mrs m says she's got her horse back so at least she is happy. Just got to sort out the other hoof tomorrow and she should be good for a while. Rode the girls on Saturday ( just a short one in case Scooby wasn't sound ) and I'm doing a very good John Wayne impression atm :eek:
DS's latest female has been promoted from Tinderwoman to GF so that may prove interesting in the next few weeks as she is a final year student in Cardiff Uni ( quite why she was using that website when there must be hundreds of males in the Uni beats me - must be an age thing lol). At least she's getting him to spend some money on things he probably needs but has been putting off - new walking boots etc. And she got him on a bike for the first time in years this weekend. They did a bit of the Taff Trail on Cardiff's equivalent of Boris Bikes. His wasn't very good apparently :rotfl:
Off to get shavings for stable later. The supplier has changed the packaging and the price has gone up. I'm convinced the bales are smaller - its a Mars bar thing.
Keep warm

Morning ((((((((((hugs)))))))))) if you need one, or even several, no ration on hugs......
Sun is shining but my live in weather forecaster tells me it will rain at 10 am. Reminds me of Mrs Bale in As Time Goes By. Whites in, but they will go straight in the dryer.
Cleaner due this morning, I have to have a quick tidy up before she comes. I have cut out 4 sets of trees for the mats, need to cut out the actual mats and mark them. Might get round to actually putting some of them on. Got fed up with having to clean the bottom of the iron.....I have an old iron, tested it at the weekend and it still works, so I am going to use it for fusing the fabric to the mat tops. It has a self clean base plate, cost me an arm and a leg when I bought it 5 years ago.
Took OH to Evergreens yesterday and went to Morrison and Lidl for things I could not get at Aldi last week. house keeping has gone through the roof, I also bought a new ironing board cover.........the ironing board has at least 4 layers on it now!!
Nelski, I hope Holly is ok, I guess she will be going back into hospital again shortly, please give her my love when you speak to her.
Sausage, mash and beans for supper tonight, made a rhubarb crumble last night, enough left for tonight.0 -
Morning. My watch has stopped working. Just hope it’s the battery I will take it to the shop tomorrow hopefully it be ok. I use it so much as I don’t like phones so use my watch all the time. Working later busy day. Washing was done yesterday just needs putting away0

Good morning everyone, yesterday was a bit of a write-off, I had no energy to get going with and think it was the after effects of sitting in a cold hangar watching the dog agility event on Sunday. Thankfully my friend has called a halt until next Spring.
Glad you got your food supply sorted, Speky. You've reminded me I have leeks needing to be made into soup before tomorrow's veg delivery.
This afternoon I'm visiting a friend who has found a cache of old school photographs from her late mother's house. We went to the same school for a few years then I transferred aged 12 to a different school. She's convinced I'm in one of the whole school photos so I'm taking along my magnifying glass to have a squint. Unlike her mother, mine wasn't in the least bit sentimental, and few photos exist from childhood years, and definitely none from school.
Yoga tonight. My friend and I have concluded we need a different yoga teacher, so will move elsewhere after the Christmas break. As I'm a newbie, I can't put my finger on what's not working, however my friend said with a touch of annoyance, she's doing "old lady" yoga and it's boring! My friend's 79! But not in her head or her actions.
Camelot, I hope you pick up as the day goes on. Glad your procedure went ok, Scarlet Ribbons. Gers, I hope the return to JL goes smoothly and the traffic ok.
Hugs to our poorlies and carers, and to TA. Hoping everyone has the best day possible. xxx0 -
:hello: good Morning, Oldstylers - from a rather damp and chilly Merseyside this morning
.
bellabella - thanks for starting us off for the day. Sorry to hear that you're having hailstones  - you'll be pleased to get to get away from those when you get to Vegas.
camelot - that's an awful lot of money to send a christmas decorations to Oz . Hope you're not sickening for a bug of some kind.
JackieO - enjoy your Coffee Morning and Quiz Evening and hope you get your Smoke Alarm sorted out.
Gers - safe drive down to Glasgow and hope the finances balance out eventually.
ScarletRibbons - hope all went well at the hospital yesterday. I had a colonoscopy 18mths ago - on my 66th birthday. As the consultant was inserting the 'up tube' he burst into a chorus of 'Happy Birthday to You!' - then proceeded to tell me that I couldn't have any Birthday Cake unless it was Gluten Free as I was 'officially' Coeliac
. Enjoy your quiz tonight.
nmlc - sounds like you had a really good day out yesterday. Great to catch up with friends like that.
Nelski - now who's going to protect those 'nice young firemen' from you and JackieO ............... hope I can make it down from Merseyside in time to defend their honour! Hope your 'Bailey's shopping trip' goes well
.
redruby - hope that work isn't too noisy for you. Maybe the new client will settle down a bit as they get used to the group .......... well, perhaps!
Organza - Sorry to hear that you got left with all the dishes like that. Need to inform the family that 'she who cooks the meals DOES NOT do the dishes as well'!
silver-oldie - lovely to have an 'unplanned lunch' while out.
-taff - hope you're soon feeling a bit better and that you get that porch door sorted out quickly.
Speky - If you're looking for 'whoopsie bargains' try Te$co around 3.00pm on a Sunday afternoon - ours is fantastic IF you can brave the 'crush'!
mehefin - hope all goes well with Scoobymare this time around.
csarina - best of luck with your sewing (applique?) project - it sounds lovely.
Bozwood - hope your watch problem is only a battery problem and easily sorted. I know that mine needs a new battery at the moment - its just a case of getting around to fitting it.
WeeMidgie - Hope you manage to 'find yourself' on the school photo - those 'entire school ones' are so difficult to search, so best of luck with that. :rotfl: at your friend saying 'old lady yoga'!
Sending ((((Gentle Hugs)))) for all who are sick, lonely and just in need of one.
Plans for today are absolutely NIL :j! Though I have taken some Minced Beef out of the freezer. Will make a batch of Chilli and a batch of Bolognese to go into the freezer stock of HM Ready Meals.
Finally got my perching stool, elbow crutches and raised toilet seat sent back to the local Home Loans Department this morning; makes a bit more space without them hanging around :T.
I'll pop back in again a bit later to see how everybody's days have gone - luv Ollie xx0 -
Morning everyone
Brrrr it's a chilly one today. Am staying put, as am awaiting a delivery.Electric spiralizers, that I got for a bargain off Amazon. One for me, n one for Mum:D
NELSKI I can totally relate to the getting irritated in anticipation feeling .I was the same yesterday, n it turned out to be with good reason:mad:
No amount of counting to 10000 worked :rotfl:
Need to do loads of washing n drying today.Note no mention of ironing;) I just don't iron !
Also want to sort some paperwork.Need to look at renewing pooches insurance. It's so dear, but they're worth it .
JACKIEO , I hope you enjoyed the firemen:p"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"
(Kabat-Zinn 2004):D:D:D0 -
Hello all, it's blummin freezing here and the heating is going full blast this morning . Good job I'm up to date with the gas/elec bills !
DD called in yesterday with a huge bouquet of flowers for me and a bottle of port for Mr Fix It, lovely surprise that was :smileyhea.
Anyway today we can't do much as we are hanging around waiting for Mr Fix It's oncology injection appointment, which is later this afternoon. ( that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it) I expect the oncology nurse will be late too, she always is. Even if you're first in she's already 15mins behind...... there's no hurrying that one
.
I have filled the DW and started it up and wiped down the kitchen work tops, so at least I've shown willing
Tea tonight will be pasta bake, but Mr Fix it might opt for something and chips ( he's not fussed on any pasta dishes..... meaning all the more for me ! :T )
JackieO and Nelski........ wait for meeeeeeee !I love a man in uniform, I do
ScarlettR glad everything went well yesterday. I'm with you on being late cake making this year. I keep thinking "oh there's plenty of time yet". Er no there's not .
Mehefin and taff :hello:
Speky our Tes*o is open 24hrs ( big banner too ) but not on Sunday, as it shuts at 4pm. It's to do with the Sunday Trading Act 1994, which I believe Scotland doesn't have. Hope you have settled nicely in your new accommodation. Are we having a flat warming party ? Is my invite in the post ? ( again ):rotfl:
RedRuby sending your Mum birthday wishes.
TA and Holly thinking of you both
Nelski sending you patience vibes. And a lot of them :rotfl:. Please send my love and best wishes to Holly too, if you are still in contact.
There seem to be a lot of posters missing lately e.g. Elona, MeanMarie and others. I hope you are all ok and it's just RL that has stopped you from posting.
Sending healing vibes to all the poorlies...... from a distance. Hugs to all.
Take care and stay safe and warm
love nan xxFailure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
Oh did you have to give yourself an enema OL - I had very strong laxatives in2 litres of water over a few hours.
i ensconced myself in the spare room next to the bathroom, with laptop, book, and tv!!
Sorry if too much information folks, I won't say any more!0 -
Afternoon all, I've a been busy beetle again today.
I'm just bsck from a walk at a local historic house and garden and we just managed the walk before the drizzle turned into real rain and would you believe it, we were by the coffee shop at that very moment. I had carrot cake decorated with petals.
I've got a pizza base rising on the windowsill by the radiator, washing doing its thing in the machine and a cup of tea.
Very cold out with extra doggies.
Speky it us good to hear that your flat feels like home, you will probably find that there is a big tesco or Asda open all hours, the small ones tend not to but as others have said. Sunday opening is restricted.
I've just renewed my professional registration and tomorrow I will submit an application to become a self employed contractor. Scary stuff but i used to supervide our independent workers so perhaps not that scary.
I am going to have a very busy few days now with one thing and another so if I'm not here, I will catch up after that.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0
