This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all
Cold and wet with hailstones overnight here in my bit of the country I had the heating on most of the day but today I am going to wrap up instead might even go back to bed with a book later . Went out to dinner with mum and family who popped down to see her . I need to go shopping for a jacket for our trip to Vegas not long now but i really cant be bothered to traipse round the shopping centre maybe I will go on Thursday as i need to get our last few dollars . Today will be tidying up and dinner tonight will be salmon or mushroom en croute with new potatoes and veg with a cheese sauce
Hugs and extra strength to all those who need it
Have a great day whatever you are up to and stay warm xxSlava Ukraini0 -
Morning All
Thanks for the start bella, hope you stay warm today.
I'm feeling a bit yuk, a vague sort of not quite right! Giving swimming a miss sadly.
I went to DDs after work for dinner, lovely it was too. Called at the post office on my way home so the parcels are on their way to Oz, £6.10 each for a tree decoration!!
Hope you're all fine and have a good Tuesday, take care. XX0 -
Good morning chums and thanks for the kick start this morning bellabella, I have beenup for ages as my sealed fixed fire alarm has been 'clinking' since around 5 this morning I will wait until about 7 before I phone the local brigade who are brilliant and will send someone to change the unit I don't want to alarm my neighbours with a troop of husky young men trooping into my house before dawn
I should be so lucky
They are lovely chaps though and I normally make them a cuppa for their trouble. our local brigade put one at the top of the stairs and one at the bottom and replace them FOC when the batteries go They are sealed and fixed so you can't remove the batteries which is good (not that I would anyway ) plus the one at the top of the stairs I can't reach anyway as my ceilings are 8'6" high and even standing on a chair (not conducive to good health or safety at my age with my wobbly joints) would be, apart from dangerous ,downright daft. So come 7 o'clock I will give them a ring
Gets the local gossips something to chat about though
Had a nice evening at the local WI and our speaker was a very funny chap who talked to us about cheese and its origins with a cuppa and a nice piece of cherry sponge cake for 50p a very enjoyable evening
This morning I have U3A coffee morning and tonight it's pub quiz night so nocooking for me this evening.
looking out this morning it looks a very dark, damp and drizzly looking November day so good job i have a cheery busy day ahead.
Hope everyone has a good day and keeps warm and dry
Cheers chums

Morning folks.
Hope you haven't caught my cold Camelot. Think I've re-infected myself!
This morning I'm doing a flash drive down to Glasgow and back, not to DM. I'm taking an item back to JL before their 35 day refund policy expires for me. Added to that is that I paid on my partnership card and that's due for payment next week.JL will refund to the card, but it seems that of I need refund from the credit card company to my current account they charge a fee so not going to let that happen. Need to stay MSE.
My farmer neighbour is coming at 7.30 to help me lift it into the car. He'll stop on the way past to feed the cows.
Speky - English Sunday shopping hours are a real shocker and make for uncomfortablely crowded shops. I hope you get stocked up today.
Right, must get ready. Virtual hugs to all our poorlies and those getting better.
Happy Tuesday to all.0 -
Good morning, and thank you Bellabella, for starting us off.
It's raining this morning, probably cold as well. Yesterday wasn't a bad day till late afternoon when it suddenly started raining.
Thank you everyone for the good wishes yesterday, for my hospital visit - all over and done with, and no problems
Sorry to hear you feel a bit yuk Camelot, you must be starting something. Yes, postage to Ozis not cheap is it.
Jackie, hope you get your alarms sorted
Not much happening here today, the usual jobs, and the quiz tonight. I really must get on with the Christmas cake, I've got all the stuff. I've never been so late with it.
Hope you all have a good day
Take care folks.0 -
Morning everyone
Blustery and chilly start to the day here.
bellabella - thanks for starting us off x
Hugs to those that want/need one x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH up and gone to work stupid early, DS1 now getting ready for work and DS2 still in his pit. I'll wake him shortly, so he can go for a run.
Dinner last night was fish, chips/jacket potato, beans/veg, fish and veg for me, with fresh fruit and natural yogurt for dessert. I remembered to get the beef out to defrost, so we'll be having beef stew, dumplings, mash and veg tonight.
I was reasonably productive yesterday, I got into town first thing and did a couple of jobs there, I got home and did some admin/household jobs at home, got my fruit all weighed out for xmas cake and that's now soaking in rum, thinking I may make and cook the cake tomorrow. I'll need to get the fruit soaking for the xmas puds, will probably make them either sometime on Friday or Saturday morning, at least those jobs will be done then. I had a lovely catch up - you forget how nice it is to stop for a bit (even if it's only for a couple of hours and just have adult conversation). We were trying to remember when we saw each other last and it's way back before the summer and good weather!
I'll be heading out first thing, as I have early nail appointment, so once that's done the days' my own, I'll pick up some milk and bread en route home, then get stuck in to the washing, drying and ironing, I want to get some housework done too.
Keep safe and well x

Morning
Jackiemum I'm very worried about you having all these strange men coming to your house so hang fire I'm on my way to protect you from them.......:D
Nice book club meet last night we were a bit low on numbers which always happens at this time if the year but we still managed to chew each others ears off no problemHad a tuna melt ciabatta with chips which was nothing to right home about.... I cant seem to chose right lately when I am eating out.
Bananagate today and I have said I will go a gazing with her instead of my cafe visit as she wants to pick up some Baileys for my brother for Christmas. Not sure why she needs me as she can easily get bottles of wine without any help. I can already feel myself getting annoyed with her which is not good hours ahead so a bit of mindfullness is in order I feel. Lets just say I will be glad to be home later today.
Hope everyone has a good day especially Jackie....now stop grinning lady x0 -
Morning all
Brrr cold here this morning have put the heating on for 1/2 hour to warm the house through.
Off to work today and my normal lovely Tuesday group peace has been shattered by the arrival of a new client and her support worker who is not as quiet as the rest of the Tuesday lotso another noisy day in store.
Its mums Birthday today so I will pop and see her after work and take her gift Ive bought her an ottoman for storage of her sewing bits and bobs.
Fry up tonight or rather a grill up as there are sausages and bacon to be used up so a nice easy dinner.
Camelot hope you feel better soon xx
Have good days all xx0 -

Morning all. the weather is freezing!! it probably isn't that bad but it is to me. Feel wildly optimistic this morning for some reason, maybe my hormones have gone astray again
Now that is is cold though, porch gate approacheth, but now the door has been sanded it is in the house, new pair of hinges and it can go back on. That will happen hopefuly at the weekend.
My nose is ocassionally running and the cough is only occasional now, but I do sound like I've eaten a sqeaky dog toy. I'm not sure whether I'm infectious or not, so I'm probably not going to to the LGFB day, it will have to wait until January. Paint stripping instead.
OH and I are on the same page regarding getting rid of various items of furniture so there will be a tip run later in the week, and I will have to ask strapping yougn men to move things for me, should be interesting....
Have a fab day all, enjoy the young firemen Jackie [ and vicariously Nelski], get someone to help you the other end Gers!!, my sympathy in advance of banangate, can you not just do the baileys and then disappear?
Wotcha Poppy and Holly and TA.
Go get 'em Tuesday!!Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0
