Parking Charge Notice - mistaken vehicle identity
belly_buster
I have a Parking Charge Notice through the post for a location I have never been to. The car was 100 miles away at the time of the "offence".
There are no photographs so I can't tell if it is an incorrectly transcribed plate, or something more sinister (cloned plates).
Should I send the standard newbies "blue text" response, say something else, or just ignore it all together. Before I saw this forum I was going to go for the latter.

No, go to the PPC's website and find their PRIVACY page and contact their Data Protection Officer pointing out your data concern and that this is not your vehicle, and if they think it is, after checking the raw images again, carefully, you require those images to be sent to you.
You will need to attach ID, which could be the V5C that shows the car you are the keeper of, and a a copy of the letter you received.
Which parking firm?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Thanks for the quick response. I'll do that. The parking firm is Horizon Parking.0

OK, BPA member who should treat the data concern seriously and if they don't you have the second option to complain to Steve Clark at the BPA, then the 3rd option of reporting them to the DVLA and ICO for misusing data and pursuing the wrong vehicle.
I always doubt these issues are a Cloned car. More likely a misread, and they've adjusted the image to match what they *think* is the right VRN and hope you are stupid.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

All sorted. They emailed back pretty quickly and apologised for the error and the PCN is cancelled.0
