Using Gmail, Can we have another email address

Hello,

Me and my OH use the same email address for everything.

OH wants to join a forum hosted?? by tapatalk.com, I am already a member of a gardening forum hosted by tapatalk.

When OH tries to join the forum he gets a message saying incorrect user name or email address because it is using my details.

He obviously doesn't want to post as Linda32

Hope that makes sense.

You can have as many Gmail addresses as you like. You can only be signed into one of them at any one time.

Or indeed email adresses from other providers, which might help to avoid any confusion. I've been using gmx.com for my most recent webmail addresses.

True if you're both using webmail and the same browser on the same computer.

All you have to do is put your new email down as linda32+oh@gmail.com, or linda32+fred@gmail.com

Say you are after something for your... dog, 90% the time once the company has your email address they will spam you, or may sell it. Make your email to them linda32+fido@gmail.com Al you can put all the emails to linda32+fido@gmail.com into trash so repeats get automatically get deleted.

However some companies do not let y0u use the + sign

I would have thought that any company that wishes to spam would easily strip out the +.... bit and bypass spam folders

True, most can not be bothered due to it being automated, and the easiest way for the site is not to allow the + which some do. There are so many alternative mail sites out there too including https://10minutemail.com.

Even my own phone had its own email address, because if it gets stolen or lost, at worst and account that contains no financial information or ties can get deleted or password changed asap with out affecting ebay or paypal etc.

Set what up?

with gmail, just tell the company your email address is MyRealEmail+OH@gmail.com go to gmail and sent a message to MyRealEmail+OH@gmail.com then look in your inbox and you will find it there

There is still another way. Gmail allows multiple accounts and can combine accounts, so that all your emails are in one account https://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-link-multiple-gmail-accounts-together-in-4-easy-steps/

Think yahoo has a similar feature of combining accounts too.

Which ever method you use, you will always have to remember that exact email address you initially signed on with

Not sure how you are currently signing into Gmail? If it is on a PC, you should see a circle with your initial in the very top right. Click on that, choose Add Account, and then on create account.

Also gmail will ignore period (full stop) characters, so sillyexample@gmail.com and silly.example@gmail.com will go to the same gmail mailbox, but they will provide separate logins on tapatalk and can be used as an alternative to sillyexample+oh@gmail.com if they won't allow a +.
