French banks!!!

Seem to be having a few vents recently but feel another one is justified.
Had a large sum put into our French bank earlier today, Monday and wanted to transfer it to another French account in preparation for transferring to UK.
Only problem is that the French banks are closed on Mondays and I cannot get the transfer done without going through the local branch!
AARRGGHH will give them a mouthful when they open tomorrow!

You have lived in France in the past (and may still have some sort of residence there), so surely you would know when the banks are open? Giving the staff a mouthful just because you're not aware of opening hours seems unproductive and is unlikely to help you get your transfer done.0

And that will help you, how? I'm sure the French are more creative at finding administrative stumbling blocks than you are at overcoming them.0 -
How dare they have a day off!0

Oh yes, have a go at the minimum wage worker on the front line.
You’re the kind of **** I used to absolutely despise in my old job, thinking you’re all Billy Big Spuds because you ruined an innocent worker’s day.
Be careful, the staff have your address and contact info

Never get a saving account with Nottingham Building Society, they will wind you up every time you wish to transfer money out if you don't know their ways.0

The point is that we set up internet banking ages ago with them but have now been told that the rules have changed and we cannot transfer large amounts online. Last time we bought a house in 2006 we had no problem and previously we could do it by FAX. Now we either have to go into the bank or do it by phone!
The Notaire managed to transfer money from his French account into ours on Monday but we could not then forward this money to another account.0 -

The bank are allowed to change the rules on transfers and considering the last time you did it was over 10 years ago personally I would have called them and checked this was still an option especially due to so many changes in money lauduring ect just in the UK alone
TBH all of this could have been easily resolved if you had just done a simple check before hand which I would think anyone look to do a large transfer out of the blue would doFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

Some banks open on Saturdays so are closed on Monday.
You happen to use one of these banks.0 -

Don't the French have pretty good employment laws?!!
Because in France it's about the employee, not the employer.
Monday closing in parts of France have been well known for ever.
It includes supermarkets , petrol stations etc.
It is something I've been aware of for years in France.
I don't live there but considered myself a Francophile .0
