Parking ticket but never parked

Hi All,

Bit of a strange one this. I receive a ticket from parkingeye on Friday stating that i've overstayed at macclesfield hospital for 9.5 hours when in fact all I did was drop my wife off and drive to my own workplace where I've left the car and worked.

Parking Eye letter has captured my car entering the car park at 7:40 but hasn't captured me leaving approximately 3 mins later. Then I picked my wife up at 5pm and they have a shot of me leaving at 5:01 - sounds like a glitch with their camera right?

Anyway Parking eye have been most unhelpful over the phone and have simply said I should appeal via the process.

Anyway just thought I'd ask how can i supply evidence, my workplace doesn't have cameras but all my workplace including my MD know that i drop my wife off and come to my workplace about 2 miles away and park up. I do have a bank statement transaction showing I went to Tescos but it doesn't show the time slot just it was on the same date (even though I drove there)

Anyone else been through such a similar instance? Any feedback would be most welcome.

Kidd regards

    Yes it's common:

Here is a long list of 'double dip' (our phrase for this flaw) cases:

    http://notomob.co.uk/discussions/index.php?topic=5768.120

...many of those are ParkingEye. And even the BPA warns about it:

    https://www.britishparking.co.uk/ANPR
As with all new technology, there are issues associated with its use:

    a) Repeat users of a car park inside a 24 hour period sometimes find that their first entry is paired with their last exit, resulting in an ‘overstay’. Operators are becoming aware of this and should now be checking all ANPR transactions to ensure that this does not occur.

Just upload with your appeal, the Tesco statement and state that was at approx xpm (or even better, phone Tesco at HO Dundee and quote your Clubcard number and ask them to email you the time of the transaction, then use that email as proof.

Demand in your appeal (written in your own words, no need for a template to kill this scam PCN) that ParkingEye interrogate their images for the car leaving about x minutes later and then returning around xxpm and tell them you will complain to the Information Commissioner and the CEO of the NHS trust, if this scam PCN is not cancelled immediately.

Macclesfield Hospital CEO is used to getting complaints. I've sent him some myself in the past, for people caught by this rogue operation that should not even be at any NHS car park as it breaches Government Policy.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

as mentioned above, there is nothing "strange" about this at all, its one of the flaws in ANPR technology and is well known and well documented

parking prankster has posted about it many times on his website

complain to PALS and also do the template appeal as KEEPER to Parking Eye with the additions recommended above to get them to see the error of their flawed system ways

Anyway Parking eye have been most unhelpful over the phone and have simply said I should appeal via the process.

Never phone a scammer, if it goes to court, judges love paper trails.

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week, hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. It has even been suggested that some of these companies have links with organised crime.

Watch the video of the Second Reading and committee stage in the House of Commons recently. MPs have a very low opinion of this industry.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind they will be out of business by in the not too distant future..
