Smart Parking

Hi,
I received a fine letter from Smart parking but it is in my maiden name from my parents address. I was going to fill in the template letter and explain that the ticket machines were all out of order in the parking area. I was seen entering and leaving only 13mins apart, probably 8 of which I wandered around trying to find a ticket machine that worked and checked other cars for tickets!
What should I do? Ignore the letters and ask mum to return to sender?
Thank you

None of the above.
The keeper simply uses the template appeal in the NEWBIES thread which does NOT talk about the story of what happened, at all.
My signature tells you where to click back to read the NEWBIES sticky, if you missed it before starting a thread before reading the info.
Oh, and guess why the PCN went to your parent's address in your maiden name? Because YOU have not updated your V5C ownership/keeper of the car, by telling the DVLA. That is NOT the same thing as updating your driving licence. You need to do both!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

What if my parent's address is in Northern Ireland but the ticket was issues in England?
I am only recently married so didn't want to alter the registration details until the house sale went through.
Thank you for the reply, I'll complete the template letter then?0 -
That works in your favour. What if my parent's address is in Northern Ireland but the ticket was issues in England?
Remove the bit from the template about 'wrong VRN' and replace it with:
You will notice that my address for service is in NI, which is out of jurisdiction for the English Courts, not that you have a case against the registered keeper due to your choice not to use the 'keeper liability' provisions in the POFA 2012
Do that ONLINE. No paper letters.
Smart will cancel before Christmas - please come back & confirm with a smiley face!PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
