The case of the missing oil delivery.

Evening all - Some advice please -

We ordered 500 litres of heating oil. It was to be delivered on Friday just gone.
I called them at 5pm to say it had not arrived. They said they'd check and call back - They did not.

I called them back on Saturday morning. They have advised that it was delivered and put into the external tank on Friday.

I was home all day and know for sure that this did not happen - Besides my car was blocking the access point to the rear garden, and I would have had to have moved it when they arrived in their tanker.

They have said they will call me on Monday after they have carried out an investigation.

I am guessing they delivered it to a different address.

If they say they delivered it to me, and are not willing to do anything else about it, what are my options here.

I am guessing I can call the bank for a chargeback (paid by visa debit card) - but - How can I 'prove' I did not receive it. How can they 'prove' they delivered it to me...?

Thanks -
LM29.

A big empty tank would be a good start.

Why did you pay in advance?

We have an account and pay on receipt of the invoice.

Have you ordered from them before?

It's the way the order process works - Have used them mor ethan a few times.

It's a local oil club. They get the best price from a number of suppliers every week and email it around. We have used the club several times and this particular supplier at least once before

Easy enough to empty if you really wanted to I guess.

I'll call them again soon after 9 to see what they are going to do about it.

No, leave it until 11am let them have a chance to talk to the driver etc etc. Unless the driver lies this should be easy enough to sort out.

When I had bulk oil deliveries I was always asked to sign the delivery note, I'm surprised this company don't ask for a signature.

The person that arranges the club recently had his tank filled to the brim?

Its easy to empty, its not easy to find somewhere to put 500 litre.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Wonder if the truck has a GPS or somesuch fitted?
  • Just spoke to them - They were very relaxed about the whole issue- They will deliver more oil tomorrow.

They did not seem too bothered about where the original delivery was made (Although I am quite interested to know if it went to a neighbour)

There was nothing ion the delivery note in terms of signature etc.

Hopefully that is the end of it and tomorrow will go smoothly.
